Terms of Service

Last updated: May 2026

1. Acceptance of Terms

By creating an account or using Grammar ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service. These terms apply to all users of Grammar, including free and paid accounts.

2. Description of Service

Grammar is an AI-native workspace that combines canvas, rich-text notes, AI agents, and meeting capture in a single application. The Service is provided by Harlan Research. Features include, but are not limited to: canvas drawing and diagram generation, rich-text notes, AI-assisted research and content generation, and automated meeting transcription and summarization.

3. Account & Access

You must provide accurate information when creating your account. You are responsible for all activity under your account. You may not share your account credentials or use the Service for any unlawful purpose. We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Your Content

You retain ownership of all content you create in Grammar — notes, drawings, meeting summaries, and any other material. You grant Harlan Research a limited license to store and process your content solely to provide the Service. Sensitive workspace text, including all page notes and meeting transcripts, is encrypted at the application layer before it is stored in our database. We do not sell, license, or share your content with third parties.

5. Meeting Capture & Transcription

Grammar provides meeting capture tools, including an AI bot and desktop live recording, that can transcribe and summarize conversations. Grammar is a tool provider only — you are solely responsible for deciding whether, when, and how to record. By using meeting capture, you confirm that you will comply with all applicable recording, wiretapping, eavesdropping, and privacy laws in your jurisdiction, and that you have obtained all required notices and consents from every meeting participant before recording. Harlan Research is not responsible for your failure to obtain consent or for any unlawful or non-consensual recording. Raw audio processing copies are deleted from our transcription providers within 24 hours. Encrypted transcripts and summaries are retained in your workspace until you delete them or close your account.

6. AI-Generated Content

Grammar uses AI to generate diagrams, summaries, research content, and other outputs. AI-generated content may contain errors or inaccuracies. You are responsible for reviewing and verifying any AI-generated content before relying on it. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI-generated outputs.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use the Service to: violate any applicable law or regulation; infringe the intellectual property rights of others; transmit harmful, offensive, or malicious content; attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service or its infrastructure; or use the Service in a way that could damage, disable, or impair it.

8. Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy. When you delete your account, all your workspaces, notebooks, pages, notes, and canvas data are permanently removed — no backups, no retention. For questions about data handling, contact us at the address below.

9. Intellectual Property

The Grammar application, including its design, code, branding, and underlying technology, is owned by Harlan Research and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, or reverse-engineer any part of the Service without prior written permission.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. Harlan Research does not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. Your use of the Service is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Harlan Research shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Service, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. Without limiting the foregoing, Harlan Research shall not be liable for any claim, penalty, or damages arising from your recording of meetings or calls without proper notice or consent, or otherwise in violation of applicable law.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by email or by a prominent notice in the Service. Your continued use of the Service after the effective date of changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated terms.
